Can't Link Leak Detector #311

Open languy99 opened 5 months ago

languy99 commented 5 months ago

I have the 2852-222 link sensor and no matter what I do I cannot get it to link. I got my two dimmer switching to link just fine. But can't get the leak sensor to work.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Just to add on, If I use the insteon app, it does link and it does add to the hub, but not through the web interface. It doesn't work then.

@languy99 Since the leak detector is a battery powered device, it is asleep most of the time and won't respond to link events without waking it first and putting in link mode. If you want to link a battery powered device through the UI, you'll have to manually put it in linking mode first via the same incantations that the Insteon app has you do before you send the link command. Just the nature of Insteon battery powered devices!

I did do that. I had the green light blinking but it would still not add. I even reset it back to stock and get it back into linking mode and still nothing. I know in the Insteon app it says sensor's cannot be added by using the address.

There must be some other sequence happening when you add them through the Insteon app that the UI is not doing.

Hello any update on this issue?

@languy99 As above, you'll need to put it into linking mode first - hold the set button until the LED flashes green, then tap the set button again. It should double blink. Put the device id into the link page on the ui and it should link to the hub.

I tired that, I got the double blinking light then I put the address in and it does not link. I have tried it every which way I can think of and it shows success device added but when I select get “get devices” it never shows up. I have gotten a usb PLM and I have the hub and I can’t get it to add through either of them using the interface for the plugin using the device address. The only way was through the Insteon app and now they want money to access it. Isy994 guys have figured out how to add battery powered devices because I have one of those and it worked but I don’t want to run it if I can use this.
