I still see this problem, exactly as described in issue 169. Running XP 64, 
pythonxy 2.6.5.1, with console at 2.0.146.

On Windows 7 x64 the problem is fixed by using console-2.0.146.1.exe. 

Did you run this setup program? The console in pythonxy 2.6.5.1 does not work.

Found the google groups post about console 2.0.146.1, which solves the problem 
for me. Thanks.
