nMake = fatal error RC1109

I download the Mongoose source ver 2.11 and then I open a Visual Studio 2005 
and 2008 prompt and I executed the following command on the folder containing 
mongoose makefile to produce the VS VC project.

nmake windows.

Here is what I got as error :

fatal error RC1109: error creating win32\res.RES
NMAKE : fatal error U1077: '"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC
\BIN\rc.EXE"' : return code '0x1'
Stop.
---------------------------------------------------------------

1 - The folder is not read only
2 - I've tried on 3 differents computer and I get the same error.
3 - 2 system on Windows XP Pro and the third is on Windows 7 Pro

Did I'm doing something wrong ?
