Feature req: Add gzip compression #236

An optional gzip compression/encoding for transfering text files would be nice. 
E.g. it should apply to html, txt, js, css files and the output of cgi's.
Every modern browser supports it and even if bandwith at home is high it may be 
an advantage for mobile internet usage.

This would be an additional dependency on compression library which I wouldn't 
like to add.
