Perfect Dark video issues #139

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Describe your system:
 - Linux distribution: Gentoo Linux
 - Machine type: (32-bit or 64-bit) 64-bit
 - Mupen64Plus version: 1.4 (binary download from this website)
- Plugins used:
   * JttL's SDL Audio
   * blight's SDL input
   * Tried all the video ones (rice, glN64, glide64).
     See below for the issues with them.

For visual artifacts, give:
 - game name and CRC/MD5 hash (printed on console):
   * Name: Perfect Dark
   * MD5: E03B088B6AC9E0080440EFED07C1E40F
   * CRC: 41f2b98f b458b466
- description of the artifact (missing polygons, flashing, wrong colors, etc)
   I tried all the video plugins, and all fail on this game in
   different ways:
   * glide64:
     If you walk within 2-3 meters of a wall (facing it) the screen
     goes black. Makes the game unplayable as you can't see to open
     doors and so on.
   * Rice:
     1. Use any device that "changes vision", like the spy camera,
        night vision goggles, infrared goggles (and so on).
     2. Observe that the image from the device isn't rendered on screen.
     3. To see how it should look, save the state and change to glide64,
        then reload state, the image will be rendered correctly. Of
        course that is not a usable solution due to the issues
        mentioned above.
   * glN64: Crashes on main menu.

I can confirm that there are a lot of issues with this game,

glN64:
Similar to Golden Eye "sky problem"

Rice:
Extremly slow, graphic glitches in game

Glide64
Pitch Black :)

z64
The graphics looks good, but there are some slowdowns ingame (the CPU load is
100%)

Using Intel C2D T7500  @ 2.20GHz

For me, Rice doesn't have speed issues in Perfect Dark. Also what "z64"?
Shouldn't
that comment be a separate bug?

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (U) 1.2 appears to have this same problem. Plus, if you
get
near a wall, or look down, the gun clips into the surface.

I had the same problem when using a European ROM. I managed to solve this
problem simply by using the US ROM.

The above workaround doesn't fix my problem as I've been using a US ROM from
the beginning.

I've been using the US version all along too.

This is still the case. Using the spy cam, the night vision or the IR vision
results in a black screen.

If you want an advanced graphics plugin with such advanced features then you
have to support this campaign to reach more than 10000 dollar (7000 already
gathered): https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gliden64-graphics-plugin
