I never liked this. It used to be a good idea given the application would automatically re-login if the session somehow timed out after ... 3 months. Now with the addition of 2FA this is not only really insecure but also pretty useless (and probably broken). I advised against using this and now that it's probably broken I don't see a reason to keep it.
Keeping the username saved is good enough. If you don't use the application for a long time, you'll get logged out and have to sign back in. Period. I don't think the other applications behave differently either, so probably nothing new to users.
As much as I would want to keep people from having to sign in, I don't think the price I have to pay by implementing it is worth it. For me this a no brainer at this point, but if someone feels the need to speak up: now's your chance.
