According to #56 : "In [20], a framework for tracking and categorizing multiple vehicles using Markov chain Monte-Carlo particle filters (MCMC PF) was proposed to classify moving objects into motorcycles, cars, light trucks, and heavy trucks."

This paper proposes to unify vehicle tracking and classification in a single processing step. Has some good results but seems it was mostly tested on single roads.
