Originally posted by **tjingboem** October 1, 2021 There is a Scratch Pad in Blue, where one can describe one's idea in words on, for example, the composition. In the issue tracker, a request for having a comment tab in the ScoreObject Properties has been layed down https://github.com/kunstmusik/blue/issues/578 where one could say something about the structure or atmosphere of this gesture, but now i was thinking on the level of composing. Having a sort of Painting Pad that would help to get more grip on the composing ideas one has. Like for example a piece for Ligeti: ![Screenshot from 2021-10-01 16-25-15](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/6670911/135636756-c7fe2b5f-dd95-4c72-bdbd-00ffd5aba347.png) I think this would fit Blue and Csound as frequently we are working with Musique Concrete and atmospheres. Color could represent instrument, densities could be drawn in time but also in frequency heigths. Lots of other properties can be visualized this way, and try to see their relations. A simple painting program like Paint in Windows would do. I do think such programs are readily available in Java, and could be integrated in Blue?

Update: i am closing this discussion for now, because i am using the simple paint program Drawing- part of Linux Mint. This will do.

Integration of such a simple painting program would be a great tool when working with the image opcodes, as well as assigning instruments to this 'score'. The latter could be a PaintObject on the Score Timeline.

This discussion will be converted to an issue.
