Can you try the 0.5.1 release.
it should fix this specific problem.

Thank you for the very fast response! Unfortunately the 0.5.1 release does not
seem
to fix it :(. I tried PDT N20071121 with smartypdt 0.5.1
(http://smartypdt.googlecode.com/files/smartypdt_0.5.1.zip) and it keeps
throwing me
that "2" error.

Sorry - after several restarts and rebuilds it seems to work finally :). Great!
I'm looking forward to further releases, this is really a useful plugin for the
thousands of Smarty users out there. Thank you for the good work!

Can you tell me what versions you use for Eclipse, WST, PDT and SmartyPDT?

I'm also getting the same symptom - syntax highlighted fine, but error
on line 1 of *all* .tpl files with description text of '2'.
Versions of all files from 20021120 nightly build:-
dtp-sdk_1.5.1_101607.zip
eclipse-SDK-3.3.1.1-win32.zip
eclipse-test-framework-3.3.1.1.zip
emf-sdo-xsd-SDK-2.3.1.zip
GEF-SDK-3.3.1.zip
wtp-sdk-R-2.0.1-20070926042742.zip
org.eclipse.php_feature-N20071120.zip
And SmartyPDT 0.5.1
Have rebuilt eclipse from scratch using the above filesand created
new, empty PHP projects with a .tpl file.
One thing I did notice is that the .tpl file doesn't have the
lightbulb icon that's displayed on the SmartyPDT home page sample, it
just shows as a generic text file... I don't know if that's relevant
or not?
Running Windows XP fully patched on a Pentium4.

Built a new eclipsePDT with the latest prerequisites as per updated Wiki (and
PDT
20071209). Template problem is still exactly the same.
* Error at line 1 of any tpl file with description "2"
* No Smarty Lightbulb icons - yet property of tpl says "Type: File (Smarty
Template)"
See attached screencap.
Do you need any more info?
Thanks!

line.

It's still not fixed, the "2" error occures on:
SmartyPDT 0.5.4,
PDT 1.0.2,
WST 2.0.2 w/Server Core Patches,
Eclipse 3.3.2,
Windows XP Pro SP3.
Always the same "2" error followed by "Invalid text string" on first Smarty tag

In addition to previous comment, I'm uploading error log with template source
code.
Maybe it'll be helpful to you.
