Just a copy of my post # 3942 at MR
[Quote]
Thanks for reporting.
This is our issue 326
BUT, it is reported also for stock/unaltered-PRS-x50 readers and may or may not
be related to PRS+.
Is there any pattern on this "on many occasions"?
I, for myself, use my PRS-650 with current beta-pack.
I have NO memory-card in my reader,
have set standby-picture to titel-page of the current book,
and AutoStandbyTime to 5 minutes.
I don't use any management software like Sony-Reader or calibre, but do simple
side-load my ebooks. I don't even care of save eject - mostly while programming.
I don't use highlighting and annotations, but occasionally (if reading in
English) the dictionary.
I don't use any PRS+ Apps at a regular basis, because they are known for
instability.
Most of the time I put the reader into Standby with the power-slider when
finished reading. And I faced battery drain only once or twice in the last two
years.
So really hard to track this down. Is there something very different in your
reading/using habits?

Will let this open for a while, before merging it with #326, but please make
sure to read throug this issue, too.

Forget "on many occasions", maybe is better to say "sometimes".
I don't have memory card in my reader, I have set the standy picture to one
jpg picture and autosandbytimer at default.
I don't use highlighting and annotations, but occcasionally use the dictionary.
Also, I don't use and PRS+ Apps.
I try to put always the reader in standby with the power-slider, but sometimes
I forgot to do that. Maybe is necessary to put always the reader in standby
using the power-slider when finished reading.
Thanks.

All right, I think I may know what's causing it. At least, I have observed one
time that resulted in a very high drain state while "off".
Device: PRS 650
What happened is that I was reading, and was nearing the low power stage when I
flipped the toggle to turn it to standby. As it should, it picked a random
image from the folder and displayed it with the little sleep icon. However, I
noticed that while the touchscreen was off, the physical buttons remained
functional, with the exception of the power switch.
For example, pressing a page turn button caused the reader to pick a new random
image and display that instead. Pressing the Option button caused the reader
to pick a new random image and display that, but only in the part of the screen
where the options box would be.
Another thing is that the power slider did nothing, even when I held it for
several seconds. To get it out of this state, I was forced to press the reset
button. In the ~10 minutes I was playing with it, the reader drained from the
low end of 1 bar of power to completely dead.
My guess, and this is just a guess, is that when I turned it to standby,
loading the image dropped the reader into the low power state, which triggered
the pop up box. But, the reader displayed the image over the top and turned
off the touch screen so the pop up couldn't be dismissed. Something to check.

In two times, my prs 505 with 75% of batery charge, when i turn off it by
shutdown (by enter key with keybindings shutdown) and run it on the next day
the batery was completly drained.
