Soul Calibur - Missing Textures or Flicker. #47

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1: Run Nulldc
2: Load Sould Calibur
3: Select a Character and fight.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I dont know if its just me, but this happent too in the older nullDC
builds, after selecting a character there is no textures on the VS Screen
(I mean, the names for example or the VS text), also when fighting, the
time Flickers (Appears and dissapears) a lot, along with the total time
that is over your life. Strangely enough, this never happent to me with my
older Geforce 6200 and started happen when I had this HD4670...

What version of the product are you using? What build? What plugins?
Right now, Im using nulldc r22.

I use the following plugins:

PowerVR Plugin: nulldc PowerVR Direct3D HAL [May 13 2010]
GDRom Plugin: Image Reader Plugin by drk||Raziel and Gigaherz [May 13 2010]
AICA Plugin: nulldc AICA [May 13 2010]
ARM7 Plugin: VBA ARM Cpu Sound Core [May 13 2010]
Maple Plugin(s): PuruPuru Imput Plugin v0.1 by Falcon4Ever [May 13 2010]
Ext.Device Plugin: nullExtDev [May 13 2010]

On what kind of system?
My system specifications are as follows:

Operating System: Windows 7 x86
CPU: Intel Dual Core E2140 Oc'ed to 2.8ghz
Video Card: ATi Radeon HD4760 512mb
Sound Card: Realtek AC97 (Onboard)

Please provide any additional information below:
I tried EVERY config in the prv plugin, static texture, versioned, floating
textures but it was the same exact thing, also tried all other options. I
dont really have a clue right now.

Sounds like a video card issue. I have Zotac 8800GT and my configuration under
the
PowerVR tab is:

Resolution- Native resolution
Aspect Ratio- Stretch
Paletted Textures- Dynamic, Full
Sort- Triangle
Modifier Volumes- Normal and Clip
Z Buffer Mode- D24FS8
Texture Cache Mode- Delete old

I'm running Soul Calibur with these settings. I'm not having problems. Try
updating
your video card drivers. It could also be an issue with Windows 7. Nobody's
worked
with windows 7 long enough to know whats compatible and whats not. Although I
seriously doubt its the OS.

I'm running Windows XP 64 Service Pack 2 so you shouldn't be running into this
issue
unless its indeed an issue with your video card driver perhaps.

Yeah, It may be an ATI Problem...Im using the latest drivers, tried every
config and
the same thing happens. Might any ATI user confirm this?

Its really strange cause the games runs perfectly except for the time
flickering and
the missing name textures on the VS screen. But, the menus, gameplay and stages
looks
perfectly.

I remember. A long time ago I was use Ati card.
Ati+Nulldc=bugs on any ATI with any Nulldc. But now I have GeForce and no
problem.
NVIDIA Better in all games PC or emulators. My favorite.
P.S.
You can use Chanka plugin in older versions. Must be better!

It doesn't really matter what video you're using and "ATI+Nulldc = bugs is
strictly
opinion based. A friend of mine is running Nulldc without any issues with THE
EXACT
same video card that alforata is using. Major difference is- This guy is
running
Windows 7 versus the guy I know is still running Vista or Windows XP 32. It
sounds
like a driver issue. Besides... I'll be honest their is basically NO support
for old
Geforce Series cards. My 8800Gt is barely supported (seriously nvidia new
video card
every month? Damn.) and nvidia doesn't go out of its way just to fix drivers so
old
games will actually run correctly. MOOT point I know, but its definately an
issue of
waiting around for a new driver update. Or hell you bought THEIR video card
chat up
ATI and inform them of the problem so they can fix it sooner lol. But don't
tell 'em
you emulate or they might call SEGA *jk* Good luck man just be patient. Their
is a
lot of stuff that still needs to fixed in Nulldc and hopefully it will have a
glorious amount of support from the whole community. (except for that one
douchebags
complaint <from a different thread> about SSE2 instructions and how they should
be
removed so he could run nulldc on an amd athlon lol).

Windows 7 x64 + HD5770
Driver version: v8.74 (beta)

Yup, health bars, text on top of them and timer flickers. And also, no text on
the
Versus screen. Must be an ATI issue indeed.

It is not All ATI Problem.
Old ATI Card does not have problem like 9550(dx9 card).
All Nvidia, ATI old Cards are no problem.

Only ATI New Cards have problem.
Maybe, ATI cards supported dx10.1 ~ dx11(or exceeded shader 2.0) have problem.

I think, this is not Missing texture.
It may be Sorting problem on New ATI cards.

Addtional problem Since 1.03
Stage changing (texture) loading was very slow.

Check again with previous revisions and make sure the changes you see ain't due
to a new driver version instead.

Checked it with r108 and it flicked, so Iori is right, r109~r111 fixed the
thing.

I havent updated the drivers yet (to 10.12 at least).

It seems the Shenmue "tree-fix" from r111 fixes it, and also the rounding
hack-fix from r89 (for AMD, disabled by default).

Original comment by KrossX3 on 16 Dec 2010 at 4:32

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
It seems some still don't know about the hackfix already on the shader. Just
open the ps_hlsl.fx file with any text editor, look for
//color=round(color*255)/255; and remove the //. That's it.

Most people aren't up for compiling though, and download pre-compiled versions.
Maybe it could be an option for now?

Its just a small change on the .fx file, people can edit that one in notepad.
There's no need to pre-compile it I believe.

However, this just fixes the noised cars in Jet Set Radio to me, and the
flicker (in Soul Calibur) still occurs along with the shadows issue on JSR.

//Edit, tested it again... and yeah. It fixes it now (it didnt back then).
Maybe can we add an option for this on the GUI? I mean, its kinda tedious for
people to edit a file "the old way". I dont have a problem with it, but some
people may be posting topics or problems about it.

Sounded like that good idea, so done by r119. Should we consider this fixed now?

r136: still missing text during "VS" screen. Also flickering of the damage bars
and timer.

Can be fixed with editing the file talked about above though.

(I have an ATI mobility card, latest drivers and everything)
