Clean Code #10

So, the python for this is horrendously ugly and inconsistent. It desperately needs cleaned, refactored, and updated. Parts of it probably need purged. Some of it is doing much more work than it should (including some parts that I just added today). Cleanup is in order.

Currently underway in issue #12, the pull request for the cleanup. Leaving this issue open until it's complete.
