Crashes and freezes on the HTC Desire

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Most operations (but specially Settings since I was not able to go past the 
initial setup)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

SIPdroid crashes or freezes (and Android tells me that the application does not 
respond, suggestion to close it) 

For my config, Sipdroid is much too unstable to be used.

What version of the product are you using? On what device/operating system?

Sipdroid (1.6.1 beta, latest version on the Market) Android 2.2. HTC Desire.

Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?

I was never able to complete the setup, so I assume this is irrelevant.

Which type of network are you using?

Please provide any additional information below.

After more tests, it seems related to the lack of network (Wifi or 3G) 
connection. If I try SIPdroid on a machine without a valid IP connection => 
crashes, freezes, impossible to complete the setup. With a working IP 
connection, it works, I can setup an account and call.

It seems to indicate that the code works but is too brittle when facing 
unexpected errors.
