NHSE does not allow items to be placed which lie partially outside the 10x10 tile area of a player house, even if 'Handle Item Extensions Automatically' and 'Prevent Writing Occupied Item Tiles' are both unchecked.

I believe (unsure) that the game would handle these items correctly, and if so then NHSE should not stop them from being placed.

For example, in an 8x8 room, a 2x1 rug can be placed outside of the doorway, but a 2x2 rug cannot, because it falls partially outside of the 10x10 bounds of the room.
