error "installed version is incompatible" #19

Hi. I tried to install the MAJOR module with Jamovi 1.2.27.0 (which is the latest stable version of Jamovi) on a mac running OS big sur and I always get the error "installed version is incompatible". I tried it with every .jmo file in the zip file but always get the same error.

Edit: After installing the current jamovi version 1.6.7 I'm able to update the MAJOR module so that it can be used but in this version the forest plot is somehow broken and doesn't show the study names or axis labels etc. (see screenshot)

If you dont get a reply from me in a couple days comment on this issue so Ill see it' first issue

kylehamilton commented 3 years ago

That's odd thanks for the update I'll take a look at it. I've been doing all of my testing with 1.2.2.0 so try using that version if you need it right now. I'll try to work up a fix this week but it might have to wait until the weekend, sorry I'm working on my dissertation proposal so I'm really busy.

Thanks for your help and your quick reply. It's not that urgent, I still have some time for my thesis, so it's no problem if it still takes some time to fix it. I'm grateful you're trying to find a solution at all. Good luck with your dissertation proposal.

Hi Kyle. I just wanted to ask if you have found time to take a look at the problem yet? Unfortunately I was not able to try the 1.2.2.0 version because I couln't find the install file for this older version anymore in the web.

Hey Jonaria, did you try it with the latest version of MAJOR? I was able to reproduce the problem with the development version of MAJOR and the easiest fix was to upgrade to 1.6.8. What kind of effect sizes are you using for your thesis?

Jonaria commented 3 years ago

I just tried it with version 1.6.8 and as with version 1.6.7 I don't get the incompatibility error, but unfortunately there is the same problem with the forest plot which doesn't show any labels.:

But I was able to find the cause of this problem, which seems to be the fixed size of the plot, which doesn't adapt to the number of studies included. My meta-analysis includes 47 studies, which are apparently too many to visualize. When I remove some of the studies to test this (the maximum seems to be 44), the plot shows the labels, but even then they are much too close together:

I'm using Cohen's d for my thesis.

Hey Kyle. I'm slowly running out of time for my master's thesis, so I wanted to carefully ask if you think you can find a solution for the remaining problem with the fixed size of the forest plot in time, or if you don't have the capacity right now and I should rather look for an alternative.
