Project Status #700

Hello @kylemanna,

Are there any updates regarding the status of this project? There's a lot of outstanding issues/PR and no releases since 2020.

There's only few proper Docker/OpenVPN repos on Github and this one is one of them, would be great if we could get this working again.

I also was hoping this project would continue, but it doesn't seem like it unfortunately. So I was looking for alternatives. The linuxserver.io openvpn docker image is deprecated and they recommend their wireguard image instead. I wasn't really happy with wireguard so I searched, and I guess https://dockovpn.io/ (or https://hub.docker.com/r/alekslitvinenk/openvpn/)
is a viable alternative.

I have forked this and rebuilt the image with the latest version of OpenVPN available on the latest stable alpine (2.5.6-r1 at the moment). The image is here. I have not fixed any of the outstanding issues but I might do so in the future. I have also dropped the support for arm64 for now as I don't have an easy way to test it at the moment.

I upload updated multiarch builds of this project here: https://hub.docker.com/r/carlonluca/docker-openvpn. I only test the arm64 version though.

Hello @kylemanna What are your thoughts on transferring this project? I can make an Org to transfer it. That way I an take care of maintainance and bug fixes.

The repo hasnt been updated in several years, but there's constant tickets/pull requests being created.
