Please make this compatible with macOS Big Sur! When the system boots up, the icon of background music is there and it works, but after a few seconds, it disappears from the status bar. I bet this is a very easy fix.

I got it, And my mbp pro 16 speaker's sound broken after upgrade Big Sur, I try to uninstall backgroundMusic , it's nothing to work with that problem, before the upgrade, the speaker is well

same problem

For me the app seemed to run fine in Big Sur, but suddenly my Teams audio got really distorted, and as soon as I quit BackgroundMusic, the Teams audio was restored -- but then Teams would no longer recognise my microphone, so I had to reboot Teams as well.

same in zoom

Seems like in Big Sur using the BGM can cause the disappearance of audio input/output devices which can only be solved through a reboot.

manulsoftware commented 3 years ago

@kyleneideck Seems like there is a PR that fixes the issue for Big Sur: https://github.com/kyleneideck/BackgroundMusic/pull/390 I tried out a build and it seems to work. Can we please get a signed build with this PR included?

SwagMuffinMcYoloPants commented 3 years ago

@manulsoftware It worked for me. There's still some bugs because I had an issue where all the audio started becoming slow. I restarted my computer and it fixed it.

xdebbie commented 3 years ago

Not working for me, it looks like the owner abandoned the project tho?

kyleneideck commented 3 years ago

@xdebbie It's just that we have quite a few issues open about Big Sur, so I haven't commented in all of them yet. I think #328 is the original one. I should probably get in the habit of closing duplicates so people don't get confused.

Anyway, I am working on Big Sur, if slowly. (If anyone's interested in helping, let me know.) And on the PR as well. Hopefully I'll be able to get it merged soon, though I should note that it's not quite a complete fix. But it's probably fine for most people.

Have a look at this comment on the PR if you're interested in the details: https://github.com/kyleneideck/BackgroundMusic/pull/390#issuecomment-732955382

I've merged the workaround (#390) and released a build with it here: https://github.com/kyleneideck/BackgroundMusic/releases/tag/0.4.0-SNAPSHOT-c0ab98b

xdebbie commented 3 years ago

@kyleneideck great to know this hasn't been abandoned, it's really one of the coolest audio manager for mac here on github! Unfortunately it's still not working for me, even after installing the new build

kambiz-aghaiepour commented 3 years ago

same - the sliders don't do anything. I only tested Brave Browser while I was on a con call.
