Problem with installation - macOS Monterey #576

Hi!

I am having trouble installing snapshot 0.4.0 on MacOS Monterey with M1 processor (Air LATE 2020 - 8/256). During installation, an installation error pops up without any additional info. I don't really know what to do. Furthermore, the application appears and starts anyway, but none of the sliders work. There's no any debug report to be shown.

DarkSkull91 commented 2 years ago

It works on my Mac Pro M1 with Mac OS X Monterey

I have a 16/256 m1 Air and installing through homebrew worked fine for me.

I have mac air 2020 - macOS Monterey. Tried installation with pkg. The installation went through, but the program does not work - even worse the sound stop working. Then I uninstalled this program and the sound start working again.

pro 2019: Monterey crashes and restarts during installation.

OkaVatti commented 2 years ago

similar with latest 14in macbook pro. i got the M1 Pro cpu and most of the other things work but facetime keeps crashing. honestly thought this was gonna be a solution to the issue where apple has literally no mixer for appliction audio but guess i was wrong.

For some reason I had this problem when I installed the first time. However, when I tried again through brew it worked just fine.

cyberfunk commented 2 years ago

I tried brew and pkg snapshot 0.4.0 on my Lenovo hackintosh and the app has no effect on audio levels or routing. Monterey 12.1

cybardev commented 2 years ago

When installing using the .pkg file linked in the README file with version 3.2, the following popup appears:

I clicked Install Anyway, and then this error pops up:

After that, the installation finishes with a green check mark. But the audio doesn't work if BackgroundMusic is selected as the output device in System Preferences.

Is there any way to manually install the helper or is there anything else I can do to solve this?

PS: I'm on an M1 Macbook Air with MacOS Monterey 12.3

voroninpy commented 2 years ago

Same issue 14inch M1 Pro, macOS Monterey 12.3, tried also installing latest version with brew install --cask background-music-pre same error.

sxt643 commented 2 years ago

Installing manually from source worked for me but have the same issue installing the packaged file.

DarkSkull91 commented 2 years ago

For me it works. Every time you restart your Mac, you have to relaunch background music and be sure that on the volume icon you have selected Background Music.

I've been using Background Music for years w/ no issues (Mac mini - Ventura 13.6.7). Suddenly in the last month, I get the "Error connecting to BGMXPCHelper." notification upon every reboot. The only way I know how to fix it is to re-install "BackgroundMusic-0.4.3.pkg". But as soon as I shut down/restart, I have to do that all over again.
