This is due to the app not propagating the sound format up from the real output device, to its processing chain, to the virtual output device.
I can confirm the same on my Corsair Virtuoso SE... system sounds are fine but anything through the virtual adapter for background music is awful. Apple M1 on macOS Monterey version 12.0.1.
Same here with my airpods and Bluetooth Amazon Basic speakers.
No, I am referring to the formats indicated by a sound device. Pulse Code Modulation, or PCM, usually. See: Audio MIDI Setup.app
, where you can see which formats your devices support.
Same problem on Monterey Apple M1 Pro, Bowers & Wilkins PX7
Same problem, this time old macbook pro with monitor and speakers connected via mini display port. When setting sound to internal speakers, it works fine. https://www.screencast.com/t/nU3rboLy74B3
Update: 0.4.0-SNAPSHOT fixed this for me.
At first, 0.4.0 seemed to fix it for me, but after a few reboots it came back. Issue appears if I connect my speakers via my monitor on mini display port. As a workaround I have now plugged in my speakers using the headphone outlet on my mac. https://www.screencast.com/t/nU3rboLy74B3
I have this issue with a fresh installation of the app and connecting my airpods.
Same issue, 0.4.0 with M1 macbook air 13.2.1 and airpods pro. After reinstalling with homebrew the sound becomes good at first and returns to distorted after several connections.
Description of the bug When using Bluetooth headphones (Beats pro) on a MacBook Pro, the audio is distorted.
