On macOS 15 Beta. It only works for a while when switching output/input device and the Microphone usage notification shows up. #748

Example bug report template

Description of the bug When idle, no audio output. When switching devices, the microphone usage notification icon would show up and got a while for audio output. And then the audio output would gone with the disappear of the icon indicates that no microphone usage.

Steps to reproduce

Steps to reproduce the bug. This usually doesn't need to be super detailed.

  1. Idle
  2. Click on another device, and the yellow microphone usage indicator icon would show up. Now got audio outputs.
  3. As the icon disappears, all audio outputs gone.

Versions

Please complete the following information.

  • Background Music: "0.4.3"
  • macOS: 15.0 Beta

Hardware

Delete this part if you think it's probably not necessary.

  • Computer: Intel Macbook Pro 15' 2019 with i9 and Vega20.
  • Audio Device: "Built-in Output. Manufacturer: Apple Inc. Output Channels: 2".

Debug logs

Other info The log is incomplete due to the history limit in terminal.

And I used to install BGM and afterall not using it due to the constant orange/yellow idicator.(Seems it's still an issue for BGM now?)

@zhouhao27 Which beta are you using? I tried in macOS 15 beta 4 (24A5298h) in a VM but couldn't reproduce the issue.

@haaddii Thanks for attaching logs for this. So far, I haven't found anything that looks promising. I'm not seeing any logs from Background Music itself. That might be because the logs cut off or you might not have debug logging enabled. (Option-click on the Background Music icon and check "Debug Logging".)

Same issue, with M1 mac
