I thought about this. It might be able to be done just via chrome but the thing that worried me was icons not fitting on different screen sizes. In other words, you could position an icon on the far right side of your screen, but then on a different computer, it might show off-screen if the resolution is smaller.
For those of who is on chromebooks - having a "real" desktop is freakish nice - syncing it between machines would be even nicer and allow it to grow even more.. dont stop at "favorits" .. integrate with Drive and we could store virtual desktop, documents, picture folders etc.

It looks like the bookmarks and folders are synchronizing correctly, which is probably a function of Chromes sync itself. However, settings and placement of the icons on the "Desktop" does not sync between machines.
It would be wonderful if I open the extension on another machine and everything is just like it was on the original machine.
This would probably require a backend server app though.
