Configure Dev Environment on KCP

Description

The goal of this task is to set up a development environment on KCP, deploy the Kyma Companion on this environment, secure the endpoints, set up a CI/CD pipeline to deploy new builds to the dev environment automatically whenever changes are merged into the main branch of the Kyma-companion repository, and document the entire process.

0. Contact SRE to clarify deployment process details

1. Set up Dev Environment on KCP:

Set up a new development environment on KCP.
Ensure the environment has the necessary resources and configurations for the Kyma Companion.

2. Deploy Kyma Companion on Created Environment:

Deploy the Kyma Companion application on the newly created KCP dev environment.
Verify the deployment is successful and the application is running as expected.

3. Secure Endpoints:

Implement endpoint security based on the findings from the previous research spike.
Ensure endpoints are secured and access is restricted as needed.

4 Set Up CI/CD Pipeline:

Write a job to be triggered whenever something is merged into the main branch of the Kyma-companion repository.
Configure the job to build a new image of the Kyma Companion.
Deploy the newly built image to the KCP dev environment.

5. Document the Setup Process:

Document the steps for setting up the KCP dev environment.
Provide detailed instructions on how to deploy the Kyma Companion to the environment.
Include information on securing endpoints.

Acceptance Criteria

[ ] A new development environment is created on KCP.
[ ] The Kyma Companion application is deployed successfully on the KCP dev environment.
[ ] Endpoints are secured according to the research spike.
[ ] A CI/CD pipeline is set up to trigger on merges to the main branch.
[ ] The pipeline builds a new image and deploys it to the KCP dev environment.
[ ] The deployment process includes error handling and notifications for failures.
[ ] The setup and deployment process is documented in detail.
