i have to design a one page website for my partner.
@Darin-Hamouda , it doesn't need to be one page. plan as many pages as makes sense
otherwise đź‘Ť
what i didn't understand from the assignment
- the details of the assignments were unclear in the beginning and i think only today, half a week in i understand what i am expected to do
@aviv82 We have edited the deliverables now based on the questions and feedbacks we have got from students. Let us know if it is clear now
- i am not sure why we need to design the other person's webpage but then make our own..? still a bit unclear on that point
As you have took a role in the other modules(repo owner, project manager…), In this module we would like you to see yourself as UX designer . And as UX designer, you’re responsible for the users’ overall satisfaction with a product. Please read the linked post
As many fellow students I also had a hard time understanding why we do not build the page for each other, but it definitely helps conducting interviews with the "client" to practise this and eventually using my own answers to build my own page
Setup my repo Cloned it to VSCode Added planning items
We are supposed to co-design a site for our classmate.
We are supposed to build a site, which will be our homepage, according to the design our classmate created with our help/feedback/requirements.
In order to design this site we need to do the following:
overall @denrique-alvarez , looks like you get the idea
How important is it for this project to study the UI/UX documentation (Gestalt, articles about empathizing, among others).
the suggested study are always just suggestions, if you are interested you can go deeper into the topics now or later in the course. if you're not you don't have to. The minimum for this project is to understand the design process and to write HTML & CSS that matches your design, if you want to go further than you can
Are we supposed to create License, Contributor guidelines and Code of conduct for this project?
yup, they're in the checklist. you can find templates online and there's some resources in the suggested study to help out. Your classmates will be contributing to your project so it's helpful to have these files in place
As many fellow students I also had a hard time understanding why we do not build the page for each other,
@Darin-Hamouda, there are few reasons for this. The first is to practice separating the design phase from the development phase, Gelila and I are working on some documentation to make that objective more clear. (this course is also a product of design, all your feedback is helpful! got time for an interview? ;)
Besides that you are developing your own home page because it's yours. You should have full control over how your home page looks and it should be a showcase of your own programming skills, not your partner's.

we have updated the deliverables for this module. Let us know what you think!
Sorry, @gelilaa and @colevandersWands for taking so long to reply. I think the new deliverables section of the unit looks way better and much clearer. I know it is still something you guys are working on. I still wonder about a couple of things that I mentioned to Evan the last time, but I will leave them here just to keep it in the record.
Since the last session, I can see many different topics combined in this module, all very important and interesting in their own ways.
I wonder how important it is for the purposes of the project and for us as students to have a good grasp or just a very general idea about those topics before moving on to other modules. Could you guys maybe give us an idea about what we should prioritize at this point? I have a feeling that UI topics are more important for now, but I am not completely sure.
Thanks in advance for your help @colevandersWands and @gelilaa
A (late) hello @denrique-alvarez, and thank you @gelilaa for reminding me about this question!
Open-source projects and how to collaborate with other's projects, related documentation.
This one is definitely important to be familiar with because it's central to the web development ecosystem, and important whether you want to focus on design or development.
UX and the 5 phases of the Design Thinking process. The double diamond approach.
The design process and user-focused development is also important for any type of development. It helps give structure to how you approach any sort of problem (even with code that the user doesn't interact with directly)
UI: Gestalt principles, typography, Figma, accessibility.
This one is only important if you want to focus on UI design later on. If you don't want to become a designer, it's still helpful for talking with designers but isn't as much of a priority
For the final project groups you will want at least one person who knows each of these topics, but everyone can't master everything.
Hello everyone,
