Week-1

I Need Help With Setting up SSH key.

• I have figured out how to set up an ssh key and link it to my GitHub account.

What went well?

• Installing the softwares and extensions. Navigating using the terminal was very interesting.

What went less well?

• Linking up the SSH key to my GitHub. Man It got me very frustrated, Github told me to copy the ID from my computer and paste it to my GItHub account. But when I tried to do that it gave me an error. After thinking like a mad man, I figured to open the ssh id using the command cat from the terminal but that was long after I tried opening it with the text editor nano. And like magic the encrypted text was present. As soon as copied the text and paste it in the github account, an image of a key appeared. Looking at what I have done, I felt like a million dollars.

What was not clear, where did you get stuck?

1. Well, to be honest I didn't really understand why we had to use markdown instead of just writing on a regular note-pad or word press. But after googling a lot, I realized that markdown is a very versatile text editing tool that can be used and opened in more ways than say wordpress.
2. I got stuck on the whole .ssh keything. It was my first experience using cmd to create an encrypted anything really, and to be honest I haven't understood the applications of .ssh key100%. I wanna dig in to it more.

What was clear, what did you master?

1. The whole idea of using the terminal to interact with your computer.It is the most fascination experience I have had in this course so far. One thing I understood is that first the standard terminal doesn't come with all the commands in the world which got me intrigued. I mean if you can instal commands to your terminal, can you possibly fill your terminal with customized commands that go with your style of coding.
2. I can confidently say that I can move around my computer using the terminal alone. I can create and rename files and folders. Or as programmers call it files and directories.

Where can you still use some help?

• I can use help on the workflows. Particularly the usage of npmcommand. Although I haven't googled the hell out of it yet so this might change.

Where can you help others moving forwards?

• I think I can help others to navigate through folders and files using command.

• More links to tutorials on the little things such us how to use npmcommands would help us learn somehow faster I believe.

What can there be less of?

• Nothing comes to mind.

What material were most helpful (from HYF or elsewhere)?

• From HYF one of the most helpful website was Markdownguide
• Many channels on youtube were helpful one of them is this one.

What HYF material was least helpful?

• Well every thing there was helpful.

Any suggestions for future classes?

• More lessons on using the terminal to create different types of files.
