Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Hit hotkey for Launchy
2. Type "putty <host here>"
3. Hit "Enter"

What is the expected output?
Putty session to <host here> should be opened and Launchy window should be
hidden.

What do you see instead?
Putty session to <host here> is opened, but Launchy window remains open
underneath.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Launchy 2.5.0
Putty Plugin 2.3

My apologies, I missed adding that the Operating System was Windows 7
Professional with SP1 (64bit).

Does this happen every time, or just sometimes? Does it happen with other
plugins/shortcuts, or just the PuTTY plugin? This happens to me sometimes
(probably 1/100), but I've always figured it was a Launchy bug (and probably
is).

Occurence:
Maybe not everytime, but a majority of the time at least. *Much* more than
1/100.

Additional Plugins:
Calcy
Controly
GCalc
PuTTY
Runner
Verby
Weby

Nothing else I do in Launchy behaves this way, and I use it to launch almost
everything. It seems to be isolated to just PuTTY sessions, for me at least.

Additionally, it doesn't seem just isolated to my 1 computer. It happens on
all of my PCs. All run various versions of Windows 7 64bit.

I can reproduce this with the 'Runner' plugin as well using the 'cmd' custom
command. If I uncheck "Hide Launchy when it loses focus" in the options, I can
no longer reproduce the issue with either plugin. I also validated that the
source for launching an application matches the built-in plugins.

Therefore, this seems to be a bug with Launchy itself. I would raise this on
the sf.net page, provided you can also reproduce this with Runner. There is
probably some race condition between hiding the window after launching a
command and hiding it because it lost focus when cmd/putty started.

I encounter this under Windows XP SP3, not with the putty plugin, but just by
opening putty by hitting "p" (it autodetects that I want Putty, since it
accounts for half of the times I open launchy).

Launchy stays open about 4 out of 5 times I do this. I haven't noticed this
happen with any other programme.

Please see comment #5
(https://code.google.com/p/putty-launchy-plugin/issues/detail?id=39#c5).

This is in fact a Launchy bug and occurs with other plugins as well, not a bug
in the plugin unfortunately. As a workaround, I would reccomend to set the
"Hide Launchy when it loses focus" Launchy option.
