Can we at least make it a solid red border? It looks like a rendering error at the moment because it is dotted and the corners are not consistent.
Alternatively, Shaun suggests making the whole button always solid red (like when you highlight it now).

In runmanager v2, on PyQt v4.11.1 (x86) there appears to be a red border around the engage button when it is not highlighted.
