for those who live my boulder with me what is k pop anyway. k pop is sure for korean popular music, genre that developed in south korea and rapidly took off over the world

k pop is huge, dominating huge dramas influencing the skin care industry and blowing up the music chart globally

and honestly, i can't see why the music is upbeat, is catchy and k pop starts are ridiculously talented they managed to sing and dance and act to perfection and they are so gorgeous

day is a lot of good when it comes with k pop and such k pop has billion of fans world wide who literally live and breath k pop and a super immersive whole culture of k pop

but on this channel, we focus on beauty standards. and breaking through BS, so that is we're going to focus on this channel.

so why exactly was i essentially grossed out by what i discovered about k pop and beauty standard? so let's talk with obvious. let's talk about k pop idols.

A k pop idol is an artist within the k pop industry so usually these idols can do everything so they model, they act, they sing, and they dance so they are extremely talented folks

now, here's where things get interested. and essentially, its at the very start of the k pop idol's career in order to be a k pop idol, young hopefuls, i am talking like young young children, are sent to what's known as a training company these training companies are also sometimes known as child pop star compankes

these children who want to be oneday a k pop idel live in these pop star company houses they learn to sing and dance and act and do all the things for brutely long hours every single day

they are under strict contracts they can't always see their parent when they want to they can't just leave when they want to it's a whole big hullabaloo

but that's not even the worst part of it i shall get into worst part of it in a second

now beauty standards are entwined with k pop idol culture unlike with other musical genres, whose band may includes bassist, guitarist, lead singer and drummer in k pop band they have another role which is known as a visual.

eh? visual? i was like, what does that even mean?

according to icles, k pop entertainment companies realized that the key to a successful k pop band is to ensure that had a good mix of individuals of different characteristics. and fan appeal so you have good singer, the good dancer, and nice one, and the good looking one. trhe role of the visual in k fap is the face of the group. usually that means the most attractive band member is chosen for the role.

to be fair, even though the role, visual, isn't exactly official in western culture it still actually is a thing for example nicara in xx, justin timberlake in n sync beyonce in xx, xx... they to me are all also examples of visual in a band. so not just k pop thing.

so examples of visuals in k pop bands include, 지수 in black pink and she certainly get to assure the endorsement campaign
she's literally a dior ambassador

have you noticed anything strange about tall these idols i just shown you?

all these admittedly beautiful k pop idols also looks totally different naturally then as they pursue the fame, they also began to transform their look coveted k pop look that is so famous today.

so what the f... happens?

that's my friend, would be plastic surgery. it is rampant in k pop industry. why?

that would be the totally unrealistic beauty expectation put on the k pop idol, young woman in general. according to a few articles i read apparently the k pop beauty standards include double eye lids, v shaped jaw line, big dough like eyes, pale cold skin, slim figure, long legs, high nose bridge, straight eye browse, pouty lips, small face, and small facial features. overall apparently the korean or k pop beauty standard to look innocent

according to the article that i read on web site, thebeau.com, i will also link down below a small face is considered pretty because it makes you look like child, and thus younger.

i thought that was odd. so because of these strict beauty standards this has let them ?? undergo plastic surgery in particlular, chin and jaw line surgery in order to achieve that v shaped jaw line.

and it is strange because in western culture, the opposite is considered a beauty standard in western culture, the strong jaw line is coveted.

women literally have filler injected into that jaw line to create a bigger stronger looking jaw line.

and it doesn't stop there. the rise of surgical nose job has been exponential. with women seeking surgery, in order to achieve that small, high bridge pointy nose

so in order fit in the k pop beauty standard one must also have small lips. seems very different toward what used in western culture essentially the bigger your lips the better in k pop bigger is not necessarily better

k pop idols are expected to withhold innocent look. and with that, comes with that dough like eyes unfortunately for also woman, their eye shape is not naturally like that.

and if you have mono lid, which is really really in some countries, it is considered under these beauty standard of floor. which in turn has let millions of women undergoing double eye lids surgery.

according to a web site jiu cosmetic surgery.com plastic surgery is common for teens in korea as is for teens getting the drivers license in america.

apparently gifting your children plastic surgery for graduation or as a gift is seen as quite normal

so i read super interesting article this one you guys have to read i am going to link in a description box down below

a former k pop trainee, she was in one of these training companies, child pop star factory urias i belive is pronouce correct me if am wrong she featured in an article with BBC where she described her experience as a child in one of these pop star factories.

so during her time in training as a child, she was in competition with another trainee to become a new girl group's visual.

Jurias was told that while the other girl was prettier the company predicted that if Jurias underwent plastic surgery that she would end up prettier that her competition and would then be ready to be the band's visual.

Juria says, by korean standard, i have a very big face. so they want her to change bridge of my nose change my jaw line

the company couldn't force a trainee to have plastic surgery but it was strongly encourage and remember this is like children and teens we're talking about

plastic surgery is very normal in south korea and the prospectives for surgery didn't bother me at all. i saw it as and investment in my future the cost of operation would have been added to my debt to my training company

she also goes on to say that it wasn't unusual for child to join the company who are already undergone surgery to look more k pop and to out amongst their competition.

you know when i was a trainee they tell me like oh you need to get this done you need to fix this they went like tell me they went me to shape my jaw shape my face,
i got that to. you? why?

i got kind like a square jaw you got the man jaw bro but they're like on tv you gonna look like buz light
