@ladybug-tools/spiders

You probably know the Aesop's fable "The boy who cied wolf". Well, the quiet here is kind of the opposite but the same We could actually be crying "chocolate cake and ice cream" or "free money" or whatever every day, but after a while people would begin to say "ya ya".

The Spider gbXML Viewer code is undergoing a big transformation. The viewer is reading 700 megabyte files with ease and displaying results progressively. It's reading and parsing ZIP files with XML files inside. It's getting faster and the user interface is getting simpler. But the really fun thing is that the code is getting simpler and easier.

The reason this seems to be happening is because of a simple rule: do one thing well.

So now there are a more short simple files and fewer by gnarly files. There could be a lot of discussion on this topic, but for the moment let's keep things simple.

It's looking like Spider gbXML Text Parser R10 will become the new Spider gbXML Viewer R8. And, fingers crossed, that code will grab the lead from 'Aragog' gbXML Viewer R12/13/14.

The time frame for R8 should be a matter of days.

Once this new code has settled, the we should start doing testing and revving up the publicity, And we can go back to what launched this effort: building a nice, clean update to the module that is in Open Studio.
