Read Me

• Select, open, view and manipulate Radiance RAD Files
• Open file or files via
  • Operating system dialog box - single or multiple files
  • URL - remote or local - supplied by a location.hash update - single files only for now
• Select files from lists of links to available online sample RAD files
• Display RAD files in interactive 3D with rotate, zoom and pan
• View RAD file data
  • Native text format
  • Translated to JSON
• Basic look-up table supplies a basic polygon color palette if no material specified
• Handles openings in surfaces moderately well
• Update scene settings: rotation, wireframe mode, edges visibility, surfaces opacity
• Written in plan-vanilla JavaScript
  • Single dependency: Three.js
  • No need for a server: run locally or offline

All scripts are:

• All free and open source on GitHub with an MIT license
• Plain-vanilla JavaScript with Three.js as the only dependency

can review: File data. It does not update for me.

Also would be possible to fix rotation along x,y,z axis and default angle ? This would really help zooming around ..

In 3.2: Z-axis is reset to vertical each time file is loaded or 'zoom all' is pressed,. Rotation position is tricky. Still working on it.

2018-09-05 ~ Development version: Spider RAD Viewer R5

This release is based on a change of direction. The previous releases are based on the premise of creating the minimum viewer to open and display a single RAD file. All extra features are made available via cookbook sample files.

The problem with this setup is that it makes testing more complicated. For example there is no easy way to check the pop-up display against a large number of sample files.

The current release combines the minimum viewer with the pop-up display and one of the sample file menus.

Other enhancements include:

• The 'File open' panel nows accepts drag and drop URLs ( but not files yet )
• 'thr-threejs.js' has had the utilities it includes split out into 'thru-threejs-utilities.js'
  • The single function in 'set-settings.js' was also added and the script file discarded
  • Part of a process to standardize code across a number of Spider scripts
• File Open HTML pulled into JavaScript file / greater abstraction
• New JavaScript /lib file: set-settings.js pulls in all html from parent file / greater abstraction
• Tweaking UI a bit so more file data is visible on load.
