I don't know where this is going. I don't know what I am doing. And I have started anyway.
This is likely to turn out to be a new demo file every few days. Each demo will have new features related the analysis of solar radiation and its affects on the built environment. Like some sort of ongoing, online hackathon.
Objectives include:
Fast, easy, provocative
Bidirectional interplay between CAD apps and energy apps
All data attached to programmable vector-based objects
Every item of data numerically verifiable, reproducible and storable
Bitmap and pixel color representations: not required / not wanted
Communicate with any app via JSON and gbXML (Pythonistas: we are looking at you)
Feed new modules into gbXML Viewer
Enhance and verify Ladybug Web Solar Calculator
Let me know if you wish to be notified with each new demo. Updates on this list may occur but will be less frequent.
Given an azimuth & altitude, a number of random objects, and a ground, the script casts rays from a number of points on the grid and calculates whether a point receives sunlight or shadow.
All calculations and results are measurable, reproducible and auditable
