Looking for a gftools script to accept a list of GIDs (to account for unencoded glyphs) and then swap in the same glyph from a different font. Issue filed at https://github.com/googlefonts/gftools/issues/141

This could potentially be a bug in varLib. Please open an issue in fonttools to remind me to look into this when I'm back from vacation next week, thanks

Huh @anthrotype , in the act of writing out the issue for you, I had to do some granular explanation of what was happening in the hint code and, in doing so, I discovered that the hint code is wrong! 😧 Microsoft didn't get the syntax right for their autohinter. 🤦‍♂ So don't worry about varLib, it's probably fine. Guess I will talk to Microsoft...

Well, TN has their build using ttfautohint, so…
