Cond ExtraBold Italic Glyphs master #30

Open pichotta opened 4 years ago

pichotta commented 4 years ago

@laerm0 @m4rc1e @davelab6

What are the origins of the new "OpenSansCondensed-ExtraBoldItalic" master?

The spacing and letterforms are highly suspect. See the Glyphs source file "OpenSans-Italic.glyphs" from Nov 27, 2019.

Cond ExtraBold Italic master

laerm0 commented 4 years ago

It was interpolated/extrapolated from the ExtraBold Italic and the Bold Condensed.

davelab6 commented 4 years ago

Can it be safely discarded?

laerm0 commented 4 years ago

Discard that weight? Not if you want a gap in the weights… (I probably don't understand the question.)

davelab6 commented 4 years ago

The new "OpenSansCondensed-ExtraBoldItalic" master is currently junk. It either needs to be discarded because the interpolation of the condensed extrabold italic instance location from other good masters is acceptable, or, it needs to be completely designed as a 'duovar' corner master so that this instance location is good.

Sure. Should I start on this or are @pichotta / TypeNetwork on it…?
