Application Indicators support #4

Imported from https://sourceforge.net/p/gbirthday/feature-requests/1/

gbirthday does not have Application Indicators support :

http://unity.ubuntu.com/projects/appindicators/

This is the way Unity wants to handle notifications.

Issues may arise with the custom icons we're using : "The icons need to use icon names from themes, direct paths to icon files are not supported. For example, icon names used with gtk_status_icon_new_from_file() won’t work."

See this, for instance : http://freakaboutlinux.wordpress.com/2010/12/02/custom-indicator-applet-icon/

It would be great to have an Unity indicator for Ubuntu as gbirthday will be not usable anymore in Ubuntu 13.04: www.webupd8.org/2013/02/unity-notification-area-systray.html Thanks in advance for all efforts!

Hello! Bonjour! It is almost a year, but unfortunately nobody could find a solution for this. And the whitelisting is gone and a lot of people will soon migrate to 14.04 LTS and won't be able to use gbirthday anymore. PLEASE help: askubuntu.com/questions/271157/why-arent-certain-indicators-showing-in-unity askubuntu.com/questions/16453/how-do-i-migrate-from-systray-to-appindicators/16455#16455 Thanks, merci beaucoup!
