Readability refactoring #10

Refactored some files to make them a bit more readable.

@JassonCordones Sorry, I needed to quickly push one smaller patch in before I was able to test your patches and now there are some merge conflicts. If you have time to resolve those, I could start applying them.

And if you can put the change for "source checking" in separate patch, that would be nice. I have a distant feeling that I had once problem on some environment with that syntax that you suggest. So I want to test that part on separate commit and maybe even apply later.
