Description

This PR provides changes suggest by @weierophinney in #7. It is targeting a new minor 2.x version preparatory for changes made in version 3.0 and by introducing laminas-coding-standard 2.0.

This is added as a draft, since I would like to have some feedback on it and see if further changes are necessary. Also, documentation for BC breaks needs to be added.

@arueckauer This is now merged; should I cut the next minor release, or do you have additional changes you'd like to make for then?

@weierophinney I'd suggest to wait with the release, as we are more ready for version 3 as well. I believe there will be more deprecations, more changes we want to do here in preparation for forward compatibility....

@weierophinney Basically what @michalbundyra said. I do not have any changes planned for 2.x. It is possible that further changes are required by those introduced in 3.0. A release is not urgent imo.
