Comment by pvanbosgeo on 28 Jan 2016 20:25 UTC I was thinking about adding an option to v.what.rast (sorry, typo in the original description) to upload the raster category labels to the point file.

The option to turn the output of r.what into a vector map would be a good alternative, with the advantage that r.what is more flexibility in terms of input.
