What should this feature enhancement do?

Allow the interior of polygons, specifically linear rings, to follow the 
terrain through tessellation.  I imagine you would first need to construct a 
tessellated polygon clamped to the ground, then make a copy, move it to the 
appropriate altitude, and remove the polygon that is clamped to the ground.  
Not sure though, as I am ignorant of the inner-workings of tessellation.

The lack of tessellation can cause ugly results when using large polygons that 
cover steep topography.

Are there any currently known workarounds that produce the same, or
similar, result?

None to my knowledge.

Without this, models are only useful for small, man-made, structures, such as 
buildings. Or alternatively, one has to have accurate GPS coordinates and 
triangulate the mesh oneself. Even that does not help, if Google Earth has 
DIFFERENT coordinates in that area!
