Excellent! Thank you (or perhaps "grazie").

Unfortunately, the developers haven't done all we could to make the app easy to
translate. Knowing that there is someone who wants to do a translation is
valuable
incentive for us to do a better job at this.

Android apps store their user-interface elements in XML files. Most user
visible
text should be in the strings.xml file, so that's a good place to start. The
one you
should be looking at is in Subversion at
http://android-vnc-viewer.googlecode.com/svn/branches/branches/antlersoft_v0_2_i
nput/androidVNC/res/values/strings.xml
(You can browse the file here:
http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/source/browse/branches/antlersoft_v0
_2_input/androidVNC/res/values/strings.xml)
(also I've attached a copy)

You could send me a copy of that file with the values modified to be the Italian
translations, and we'd be started towards having an Italian version.

Of course, not all the text that needs translation is in that file. There are
other
XML files (in res/layout and res/menu) where text is embedded in the file
directly:
that is there is attribute android:title="English string" where it should say
android:title="@string:key_to_string". A second step to translation would be
to find
and fix those attributes in the other XML files, having them reference strings
you've
added to the strings.xml file.

Finally, there's some English text embedded in the program source code. The
developers will have to take the lead on getting that out into the xml files
where it
can be properly translated.

Again, thanks for your enthusiasm for the program-- and let me
(googlecode@antlersoft.com) know if you have more questions.

Oh, I forgot to add:

The documentation pages ideally would need translation as well. The wiki
source for
these pages is also in subversion:

http://android-vnc-viewer.googlecode.com/svn/wiki

Browseable at:

http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/source/browse/wiki/faq.wiki

If you start sending translations I could give you read-write svn access to the
project, if you wish
