StopTheMacAppStore keeps open after opening the App Store #5

Sorry if the title is confusing, but if I let the App Store open from Safari, the StopTheMacAppStore window keeps open indefinitely. It also happens when I open the App Store from the Apple logo menu. Oddly enough, it doesn't happen if I open the App Store from the .app directly.

I noticed it started to occur in version 2.0.

I'm seeing this from the Apple menu but not from Safari. Do you have an example?

I don't know if that's a true example but it triggers the behavior for me. I can collect other pages where this happens if it's relevant.

I can't reproduce the issue.

I'll try to update my macOS version and see if things change. Do we leave this open for the scenario with the Apple logo menu?

Thank you for the attention.

I'll try to update my macOS version and see if things change.

Which version are you running?

Do we leave this open for the scenario with the Apple logo menu?

Sure. The problem here is simple. The Apple menu just opens the App Store app, and Stop The Mac App Store now pretends to be the App Store app, so it gets opened instead. The "Mac App Store" button in Stop The Mac App Store doesn't automatically close the window.

14.3.1

Updated to version 14.4.1 and nothing changed. Actually the behavior about the Apple logo menu is subjectively worse now, it doesn't open the App Store alongside Stop The Mac App Store, it only does the latter.

I don't think the behavior changed with the macOS version. Rather, when there's an update available in the App Store, and the Apple menu shows it ("1 update", for example), then the Apple menu will open the Updates page, and thus Stop The Mac App Store will open the Updates page in the App Store app. On the other hand, if there are no updates available, then the Apple menu simply opens the App Store app.

I still can't reproduce the behavior that you're seeing. When there are updates available in the App Store, Stop The Mac App Store opens the Updates page and then quits. Stop The Mac App Store also quits when I open an app page, such as the one you linked earlier. The only time I see Stop The Mac App Store remain open is from the Apple menu when there are no updates available. So that's a known issue. But otherwise, I've tested with multiple Macs, and also nobody else has reported the issue you're seeing.
