Composer complains about missing mcrypt extension with PHP 7.2 #25444

Closed hanspagel closed 6 years ago

hanspagel commented 6 years ago

Description:

When I try to upgrade from Laravel 5.6 to 5.7 Composer is complaining about the missing PHP Extension mcrypt.

  Problem 1
    - laravel/framework 5.0.x-dev requires ext-mcrypt * -> the requested PHP extension mcrypt is missing from your system.
    - Conclusion: don't install laravel/framework v5.7.0

Mcrypt is deprecated with PHP 7.2, so I can't add it.

Steps To Reproduce:

Try to install Laravel 5.7 with PHP 7.2.

Looks to me that one of the packages is requiring an old version of laravel.

staudenmeir commented 6 years ago

The issue is caused by tightenco/quicksand which doesn't support Laravel 5.7.
