Alignemnt issues with RStudio Console #125

captura de pantalla 2015-08-12 a les 08 59 22 Here you can see a screenshot of the output of RStudio console when printing dataframes with text on them. Rows are misaligned.

This issue only happens with RStudio, if I copy-paste this into another editor, alignment is just fine. Similarly, if I use any other mono font in RStudio, alignment is fine in the console. Another issue is that when I am typing, the cursor eats half of the letter I have just written.

Cheers, sorry for the late reply (been very very busy) - not sure what's causing this. Does this also happen in the "ligatures: off" version?

Hi!

Thanks for the reply, and appologies for the late reply. I got married recently and now I have returned to my daily routine.

Yes, issue happens on RStudio for Mac in both Yosemite and El Capitan for both fonts (with and without ligatures).

I have RStudio on Windows 7 at work and interestingly enough, the misalignment is gone in RStudio, but the ligatures do not work either.

I have also noticed that I need to use a smaller point size to have the same font "size", ie, Monoid at 9pt will look roughly the same as other mono fonts at 11pt or 12pt.

Thank you very much

Kind regards,

@DasHammett congratulations on the marriage

I'm not sure what to do about the alignment bug as it seams to be editor specific. The fontsize is deliberately bigger because I needed to hit numbers for pt and px in my preferred font size that was in a 4:3 ratio for it to be sharp on both mac and pc.

FWIW, I see a similar issue in WingIDE (wingide.com), which I know is using the Qt graphics library. Same text, same size, etc. doesn't have a problem in gvim, or emacs.
