In the documentation mathtools.dtx

Line 2053 reads % \verb|\braket{A}{-B}| in a version without

The command \braket should take three arguments.

Suggestion: Add a third argument {C} so that the line becomes

% \verb|\braket{A}{-B}{C}| in a version without
