Hi @u-fischer ,

I'm working with tagpdf to produce Latex reports via Rmarkdown. My pipeline for producing the tagged reports was working. However, the recent update seems to have broken things and I am now experiencing this error: Previously I was using the \DeclareDocumentMetadata and updated the code to be using the \DocumentMetadata but still running into this issue

Screen Shot 2022-06-14 at 10 43 43 AM

Below I provide the setup for one of my documents:

Any ideas what might be causing this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated and please let me know what other information I can provide.

u-fischer commented 2 years ago

How should one help you? You are not even mentioning which texsystem you use. Make a proper, small example and then show it along with the log-file.

FrankMittelbach commented 2 years ago

my guess is use of a new tagpdf and some old LaTeX format, but as Ulrike said, it needs a reasonly short example (not the source file with Rmarkdown but the resulting .tex file) and the .log file from TeX to see what gets loaded

gchickering21 commented 2 years ago

Hi @FrankMittelbach and @u-fischer ,

Apologies Im relatively new to latex. I am using R markdown, and more spefically using tinytex to compile the .tex files.

Here is the resutling .tex file and .log file for one of the outputs when I see this error.

Here is the log file output

using tinytex to compile the .tex files.

then not too old but most likely too small. I don't know the tinytex distribution, but if I remember correctly it is a handpicked distribution of only a few packages. With 2022-06, LaTeX core got the addition of the latex-lab bundle (which contains the support files that are missing, and while tinytex seems to have the latest LaTeX it doesn't have that bundle (which is part of core LaTeX but new with this release).

well as far as I can see you are not using tagpdf at all.

Also I do not recommend to use tagpdf in such a complicated setup without good LaTeX skills. That is an experimental package, not a user package.

Beside this, my guess is that you didn't install the latex-lab package.

I wanted to follow up on the issue and say that install the latex-lab separately fixed this issue for me. Thanks so much for the help!
