Using Noto Sans Math with unicode-math #609

Closed Enivex closed 10 months ago

Enivex commented 1 year ago

The font Noto Sans Math now has OpenType math support

https://github.com/notofonts/math/releases/tag/NotoSansMath-v2.539

I've been unsuccessful in making it work. Basically nothing displays correctly. Is this due to incompatibility with unicode-math, or problems with the font itself?

Enivex commented 1 year ago

Installing the latest (unreleased) artifact fixed many of the issues, so I assume the font's math support is somewhat half-baked at the moment.

I get

from NotoSansMath-v2.539 that you linked to which implies the math table is not fully set up, but it does seem very new.

Yeah those are the kinds of issues that are fixed by instead installing the artifact I linked in my follow-up comment. (edit: Bottom of the page)

from the current artifact.

I guess this means the font is under (very) active development and no actual issue here for unicode-math

You're probably right. Hopefully it'll mature over time.

I'm just excited to see more sans serif math fonts, as I only know of Fira Math

I'm excited to see this too! But I will close this bug for now :) Most rendering issues are also outside the scope of unicode-math itself.
