The functional analysis of the gene lists needs to be automated using an API. There are various online tools that offer this option so I'll investigate these to see which should work with our data.

The gprofiler R package seems to work nicely and using R should mean it's fairly easy to evaluate results.

I've imported a script to run gprofiler using R, it produces a plot and results table of any GO categories that come up frequently.
