When the device is in silent mode, which would usually be the case if you want your phone to be quiet, opening a video still opens it with the volume on.

Just keep the audio muted until the user clicks the mute button, as long as the phone is in silent mode (otherwise the original behavior can be retained).
Describe alternatives you've considered
Always keeping it muted on open is an option, but I like being able to hear the audio immediately when I'm NOT in a situation where I'd be in silent mode.
