Images sometimes improperly rotated #3383

Open malnoxon opened 4 years ago

malnoxon commented 4 years ago

Environment

Joplin version: cf3b2ed Platform: Linux OS specifics: Arch Linux

also happens on: Joplin version: 1.0.331 Platform: Android OS specifics: Android 10

Steps to reproduce

  1. Download Landscape_8.jpg from this repo https://github.com/recurser/exif-orientation-examples
  2. Attach it to a document in Joplin
  3. Notice that it's rotated with "top" not on top

I also get this seemingly randomly with photos taken through Joplin on my android phone.

Describe what you expected to happen

The image should be rotated with "top" at the top.

Previous discussion about this at https://discourse.joplinapp.org/t/photo-rotation/2296/16 but it appears unresolved and never got entered as a github issue.

It's not really a bug, just something that the app doesn't do. For now, now that it's possible to edit attachments you could simply open the image and rotate it yourself.

The app should read EXIF from the image and display the correct orientation
