Issues running VM #7

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Running the OpenDLP VM image results in a long list of dma errors upon boot up
and the drive being mounted as read only when running.

tested using Oracle VM Virtualbox 3.2.8 on Debian "squeeze", x86_64
2.6.32-trunk-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Jan 10 22:40:40 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

all sha1 sums were correct before first run.

Did you try applying the changes that are mentioned in the updated readme file?

http://opendlp.googlecode.com/files/README-VM.txt

If that doesn't fix it, I will release a VMware image after I get OpenDLP 0.3
finished.

fixed, issue turned out to be that the vm is created assuming its running on
the sata0 slot, not the IDE primary master slot that is the default for oracle
VM box.

I converted the virtualbox image into VMware image by installing remastersys on
it and gnome-core and generating the distro iso. You then boot a VMware player
VM with that iso attached, and can then install from that. All I then had to
do was convert using vmktools and I could then fire this up on my ESXi 4
server. Simples.:)

I only swore at OVF a couple of times whilst doing that!

Ofc, I haven't been able to get the scanning bit working yet, but I can connect
to the webserver and create new regexe's and schedule scans etc. Its the agent
deployment I'm struggling to get working, but I've only just started looking at
it. Some documentation would certainly help immensely. Even just where the
logs are being stored, obvious FAQ's, etc. I have no problems helping out
where necessary.

I released a new VirtualBox VM today based on Ubuntu 11.04 and OpenDLP 0.4.1.
Please try this VM and let me know if you have any issues, thanks.
