While trying to finish this particular puzzle, I ran into multiple problems, some which appeared on my first playthrough, others only upon reloading that save later.
It was possible to pick up all three keys without pressing all three of the associated pressure plates, resulting in some of the room triggers not activating, such as enemy attacks.
After using two of the keys, the bottom two bars of the central cage were open, allowing me to squeeze inside without collecting all three keys.
The green bars obstructing the central hole did not open under any circumstances and touching them prevented me from running-- I could still use mouselook, but I was unable to move. The only way out was noclip.
By noclipping past the green bars and into the hole towards the white button, I was able to press the button, but could find no way of doing so and surviving due to the crusher. The bar blocking the way out through the back has a texture suggesting the necessity of a fourth Gold Key, which may or may not exist in the map as it is. Upon reloading this save on a different day, yet another bar appeared here which would have prevented escape even if the Gold Key bar had been removed.
I do not believe that any of the potential changes here were the result of running system updates as I am using the mod version of LibreQuake.
