using -flat results is format "{" #24

updated to latest. ran git pull and

the -flat option results in bad format

Spotify Ripper - v2.9.1
  Encoding output:  MP3, VBR 0
  Spotify bitrate:  320 kbps
  Unicode support:  Yes
  Output directory: xxxx
  Settings directory:   xxxxx
  Format String:    {
  Overwrite files:  No

when using --format "{artist} - {track_name}.{ext}" the problem is solved.
